Ready To Walk On Water?

I love Peter's experience of walking on the roaring sea with Jesus. But the thing is, Peter's story is often misunderstood. Do you have a step you need to take?

Listen to this message I gave at a women's retreat to gain the fresh perspective you need to see Jesus in a new way! My FREE gift to you!

The Prodigal Son Skit: Stories from Ukraine Series

This post is part of the “Stories from Ukraine” series. To view the first post, please click HERE

I’ll never forget the team meeting that ended with fear beginning to take a slow hold on me. I was beyond excited about heading to Ukraine, but the team learned a dirty little secret. A piece of information I wasn’t exactly going to share willingly.

The team discovered my passion for writing.

Before I blinked twice, I was given the task of writing the skit for our Ukraine adventure.

Oh no – not just any skit mind you.

This presentation would be showcased every single place our feet would take us. It needed to speak easily to the kids and families. It had to be portable and it needed to include our entire team.

No pressure…none at all.

Whoever said I could write skits anyway? Hello, I write blog posts and string words together that rarely leave the computer screen or the printed page.

But now, these words I was to create required a voice.

They required a story.

This required a miracle

I do not write skits (unless you want me to act out the homework table at our house – oh I’ve got that down!).

But God. (there is SO much in those two little words friends – don’t rush right past this!).

I was up late one night, pleading with God for direction as I looked completely lost into the blank, white computer screen.

In the silence, I heard Him speak to my heart, “Hey kiddo. Just write about what you know. Share My story of belonging. Share the Prodigal Son.”

Yes. My Father calls me His kiddo. Until recently, I never really allowed that phrase to take root in my heart.

I am His kiddo before anything else.

I belong to Him.

I am forever His.

At that moment, I almost lost the grip of my keyboard as celebration erupted as I glided across the silent living room floor (almost tripping over our quite large sleeping puppy).

Yes! This is exactly what I could share through a dramatized skit. That quest for belonging that every single human being has or will find themselves chasing after. I received the opportunity not of fear, but of honor. Our team received the privilege to share God’s love through this story of hope

Yes, we added a wig, somewhat interesting dramatic motions and quite interesting graphics.

Yes, it took a lot of practice to learn how to speak through a translator.

Yes, our team knew how to have fun (we had several “bad choice son” moments on our trip! Don’t get it, watch the video!). But it really was hope being broadcasted as many heard this message for the very first time

We presented the skit at a children’s hospital, a camp, a church outreach, at a special needs gathering and community events. God moved mountains!

I was only able to capture one video of the skit and sadly it left off the very end when we took the time to introduce the father as Father God and the son as ourselves. We wanted to make sure everyone knew that they could always come home to God, no matter what. We gave out rings to everyone in the audience. It was a great moment that we experienced so many times in Ukraine!

Enjoy watching the video.

Laugh with us.

Rejoice with us!

Never underestimate that you – yes you on the other side of this screen – you are His blood-bought child and you will always belong to Him. Nothing can and nothing will ever take that away. From one returned prodigal to another, life is always worth living when you know where your Home is. I can’t wait to get there, but I’m making sure I can do whatever I can to bring others along on this adventure.

I’m glad you are here!

I LOVED The Prodigal Son skit–especially the performance by the narrator!!! The audience, all ages including men, women and children, seemed to really enjoy it. So fun to see them participate in it with you. God sure knew what He was doing by choosing you, Bethany Boring, to minister to His children … ahem, “kiddos” … everywhere! Keep on thriving, girl. You got it goin’ on!!!
