Your blog always brightens my day.
I am a musician too and I LOVE the violin! I took lessons in 1st grade but never could quite get the hang of it. My teacher did the Suzuki method and at some point wanted me to balance a nickel on my violin while playing it and that was the end of it for me. I got so frustrated that I couldn’t keep that nickel balanced while I played Twinkle Twinkle Little Star, that I refused to play after that. I eventually found that singing was my musical gift, but I have always loved the violin despite my frustrations with it. My college roommate was our university’s first ever violin performance major and she was absolutely amazing. I used to love listening to her practice and perform. Don’t discount having the ability to play by ear. Having a good ear is actually pretty important for a number of musical instruments. 🙂 I would love to learn how to play a drum set, but have never had the opportunity. Maybe one day!
I love your determination, Bethany! You have indeed been giving a gift. Thank you for sharing your heart and your story.
Oh man I just love this! One of my favorite quotes is “God doesn’t call the qualified, He qualifies the called.” This is what He did with you! Every melody that you make is a sweet offering to Him! Thanks for sharing your inspiring story!
“The dots and lines don’t compute with the way God wired me.” Oh, friend, how this could be used in so many different scenarios… You are brave, and a beautiful child of God. Your perspective has just brought so many things to light for me. Thank you!
“No, the pieces didn’t quite line-up right, but I was wired for this very page turn in my life.” Thank you for sharing this, quiet reminder that I am wired and even when the pieces don’t quite fit, He is shaping and molding me, quietly playing along all I have to do is follow His lead! 🙂
