Ready To Walk On Water?

I love Peter's experience of walking on the roaring sea with Jesus. But the thing is, Peter's story is often misunderstood. Do you have a step you need to take?

Listen to this message I gave at a women's retreat to gain the fresh perspective you need to see Jesus in a new way! My FREE gift to you!

A Door To Adore

A little over 9 months ago, just after our youngest turned 1, I received a gift from a friend. In her card to me she wrote:

Bethany, I believe the words you write will open the door for many to experience God for the first time.

Inside the card was this blog template and my writing space for the next three years.

Don’t even think for a second that I dropped everything and immediately rearranged my schedule to take on this gift. Oh no. For many weeks the card sat on my dresser. Visibly present; physically untouched.

You see, I wasn’t sure how public I wanted these heart-carved words of mine to appear. All I could see was a  very public open door, not Who I needed to adore.

As bloggers, writers and Christians, we do what we do for God only. We put our best on the line for His glory. But sometimes, we can get our efforts twisted around just a bit. We must adore God with our humble offering first. We are true to the unique design that He molded deep within us first – no cookie-cutters allowed.

To my beloved readers and encouragers – I love you, but God is in control of this online space. Expect the unexpected. May you find this door an easy avenue to adore Him on a personal level.

Where is your door? Where are you leading people using the treasures you have been given?

You are a door to adore Him. Stay open long enough to allow visitors to pass through your words to His Word.

This will be my last post for 2014 and what an incredible year this has been! God is opening up doors for writing and speaking that I simply never could have imagined. From our family to yours, Merry Christmas and thank you for celebrating a new beginning with us!

I love your play on words, Bethany! I, too want to be a door :). It’s been so much fun getting to know you in these last couple of months. Enjoy your vacation and Merry Christmas to you and your family.

    Bethany says December 19, 2014

Completely agree Anita! One of my FAVORITE moments of my week is partying with my FMF ladies! So encouraging, real and true! So glad we have connected friend!

Barbara says December 18, 2014

Thank you for sharing! I love that – “You are a door to adore Him”!! Thank you for sharing…look forward to more in 2015!!

    Bethany says December 19, 2014

Same to you friend! 2015 – here we come!

Barbara says December 18, 2014

Thank you for sharing! I love that quote – “You are a door to adore Him”!! Thank you for sharing…look forward to more in 2015!!

    Bethany says December 19, 2014

I really like that quote too! Isn’t it neat to see what God puts on our hearts?

Andrew Budek-Schmeisser says December 18, 2014

What a lovely post! (I’m your FMF neighbor today.)

And I confess to laughing, because I also used the door analogy, though in rather a different way.

The door I offer is the one marked “Marriage is Cool”. It’s what I blog about, and what I write novels about. I believe that a Christian marriage is the greatest adventure we can have in this life (and I did a few adventurous things, involving firearms, explosives, and helicopters).

A small and ugly war can kill you, but in marriage, your soul’s on the line, and you need God watching your back.

Have a wonderful Christmas, and a great start to 2015. I’ll be looking for you in January!

    Bethany says December 19, 2014

I love this! Great connecting with you here on FMF!!

Marisa says December 18, 2014

Yes! I love the idea that there are doors to adore and that we have to make the effort to walk through them in order to not only share our blessings but to be blessed! Wise words! So happy you decided to start blogging 🙂 It’s definitely not as easy as it seems but sharing the raw becomes beautiful and the Giver becomes the Gift!

    Bethany says December 19, 2014

Love the last line you stated there! That would make a great tweet!

Tara says December 19, 2014

Great post. How often do we not see or even open the door to this God who adores us? Merry Christmas to you and your family friend!

    Bethany says December 19, 2014

Great insight there Tara! I know I’ve had my door shut many times…I think it starts to stay open more when we see the amazing lives we welcome in return.

Mary B. says December 19, 2014

So glad your year has led to so much success and happiness! Can’t wait to see where God takes you in 2015!!!! 🙂 Merry Christmas! 🙂 <3

    Bethany says December 19, 2014

You, my friend, were one of the KEY voices that started me out on this journey! Love you!!!

Somer says December 19, 2014

Bethany, I always enjoy reading your “door” . What a special friend you have and isn’t it wonderful when God uses flesh and blood people to speak His dreams to us?

    Bethany says December 19, 2014

Yes Somer!! You are true all the way around this! Praying you have experienced the same in your life friend!!

Holly Barrett says December 19, 2014

That’s a great question, Bethany. How will my words, behavior, attitudes, encouragement, etc open the door for others to see Him? I’ll be pondering that for a while! Merry Christmas!

    Bethany says December 19, 2014

I love chewing on questions like this! Merry Christmas to you too friend!!

Amanda says December 19, 2014

A great way to use the word adore. I always write from the heart and sometime it is hard to hit publish and share who I am with the world. I can totally relate with this post. Merry Christmas!

    Bethany says December 19, 2014

Oh that dumb publish button…gets me every time too! It should. There is a balance we need to keep. Yet, He wants us to share our story. Great insight here! Merry Christmas!!

Wendy says December 19, 2014

Today is my last post for the year too… Because I want my kids to get a glimpse of Him as well. Merry Christmas, blogging friend.

    Bethany says December 19, 2014

You nailed it Wendy!! See you next year friend!!

Susan Shipe says December 19, 2014

Loved it. A blessed and full Christmas to you and yours too!

Chantai says January 1, 2015

Hi Bethany! I’m new to your blog and just wanted to say that your message resonates with exactly what God has placed on my heart for some time. Thank you for being an open door for those of us who are still timid in taking that step away from the shadows when Abba is telling us to trust in Him. I read your farewell onCompel and was re-inspired to continue pressing on as I too have 3 little ones to contend with while trying to find time to write.

Thank you for your encouragement!

    Bethany says January 1, 2015

Oh friend – you have no idea how God used your words to encourage me tonight! I’m writing through the final chapters of my book and how I miss my Compel friends! Stay in that supportive community and grow roots! It looks to me like God is already using you! Get ready – I’m so glad to be connected with you!
