I love Peter's experience of walking on the roaring sea with Jesus. But the thing is, Peter's story is often misunderstood. Do you have a step you need to take?
Listen to this message I gave at a women's retreat to gain the fresh perspective you need to see Jesus in a new way! My FREE gift to you!
Never underestimate your potential – His breath of a new fire within your soul. Never doubt how close He is to your dreams, your passions and your deepest longings. That place your mind goes to before your thoughts can fall asleep – those goals that simply seem too far out of your reach…He knows. In the darkness you feel so vulnerable, so useless so defeated and alone.
Then, He reaches in to you. He calls you out by name and reminds you, dear child, those passions, those dreams those little longings of “someday” that bring a smile to your face – well, they originated with Him first. He gave those ambissions to you for a reason…not to simply hold on to, but go further, risk more, dare to go deeper and reach beyond your comfort to find Him.
Can you tell I’ve been reading “The Best Yes” by Lysa Turkeurst? Love this book!
I jokingly just ended a conversation with my husband asking him to build a shelf out of reach of my kids, to hold new treasures, precious memories that have come into my life over the past 12 months during my stretch the comfort zone quest. I don’t think the shelf will be built anytime soon, but the changes that have been going on in my life are evident nonetheless. No shelf can hold that.
The first is a trophy my oldest son and I won on a cruise last October. We were dancing stars. I hadn’t danced since my battle with cancer. Now in remission and cancer free, that moment brought so much hope, reuniting a bond with my son I was so close to losing. Life was worth dancing for. We did that well. We still do.
The second item is a 3rd place trophy from my first 5k that I ran in March of this year. I never thought I would run again. I never dreamed I would be running three times a week and craving my moments with Abba, dancing under the stars and watching the sunrise together. This truly was a moment of victory that miracles do happen. Orphans find their Home. The weak find rest. Joy does come in the morning.
The last was just won tonight – two first place trophies in a Toastmasters public speaking competition. I’ve always dreamed of sharing Gods story, laughter, hope and inspiration through written and verbal words, yet it was a dream. Until God put various moments of my life into motion and I found my writers and speaking voice. Tonight I actually won a humorous speech contest – laughter all around. I joined the club in June. There is no doubt in my mind God has put me exactly where He wants me to be.
I am reaching into my heart and pulling my passions out from the storehouse. I am reaching out for a new beginning and friendships that simply overwhelm my soul. But before anything, I reach up, to my Abba Daddy – in surrender, in reverence, to be picked up and held by the One that knows me better than I know myself. I am never out of Your reach. Thank You for teaching me to reach for more than just an ordinary life. Thank You for showing me more in You.
