I love Peter's experience of walking on the roaring sea with Jesus. But the thing is, Peter's story is often misunderstood. Do you have a step you need to take?
Listen to this message I gave at a women's retreat to gain the fresh perspective you need to see Jesus in a new way! My FREE gift to you!
My husband and I recently connected with the Elevation Church Space Coast extension site here in Melbourne. As a church we are doing some pretty incredible things and we are blessed to be involved in the launch of what God is doing right here in our area. God is moving mountains.
In one of his recent sermons, Steven Furtick made such an interesting object illustration using two iPhones. He alluded to the humorous bubbles that appear on the text senders end as the other receiver is cleverly working on a crafted response. So many times I’ve seen these mysterious bubbles on my iPhone and they have now been introduced on Facebook messages.
You just can’t escape the bubbles.[tweetthis]You just can’t escape the bubbles. [/tweetthis]
You have been impacted by these bubbles too, no doubt.
The moment you send a message and eagerly wait for a needed response. You look down at your phone, trying not to grow anxious. But then you see their bubbles. Those scattered dots of activity from the person you can’t wait another second to read a response from. You not only know your message was received, but that there indeed is activity from someone on the other end.
You try to distract yourself.
You ponder whether or not you should type a message asking why it is taking the person on the other end so long to respond to such a point blank question.
Finally, you begin to type a message, fearing that maybe the person misread your emotions or perhaps they are afraid to answer in a way that you would like. You must type a message to reassure them. You need to provide peace, encouragement and reassurement. Your message looks perfect, your emotions are confirmed. You finally feel justified and right as your finger hovers over the “Send” button, those bubbles disappear.
“K” is the response from the other end.
Seriously? Putting my life on hold and my emotions in overdrive all for one stupid letter?
Yes, you know you have been popped by these bubbles too. In fact, this typing awareness indicator has caused many to actually turn off its functionality due to the added emotional stress it causes on their lives. See this New York Times article for reference. Why not try the old fashioned “pick up the phone and call” approach. But no, what would be the fun of that? And miss seeing our bubbles?
This past year I felt like I have seen God’s bubbles in response to a huge overriding dilemma in my life.
My text to God – “I don’t know where to go from here vocationally. I need your help. Thx.”
For months, I saw His bubbles…hard at work in my life, yet no clear answer.
I saw His bubbles the day I received two working hearing-aids enabling me to experience the world around me in stereo for the first time. (February 2014)
I saw His bubbles the day I ran two 5ks exactly seven hours apart. (April 2014)
I saw His bubbles the day I launched this blog.(May 2014)
I saw His bubbles with every comment I read after every post composed. (Ongoing)
I saw His bubbles with every speech I delivered as I started my Toastmasters journey. (June 2014)
Oh, the bubbles. I saw and felt Him working but what exactly is my answer.
In a few weeks, I will begin my certification to become a Professional Christian Life Coach. A place that my gifts of encouragement, writing and speaking blend with ministry for such a unique purpose.
I still see more bubbles heading my way, but perhaps this is the answer I’ve been looking for. But without His bubbles along the way, I wouldn’t see His answer so clearly. It would become a coincidence or even worse – I could take all the credit. No, we need Abba’s bubbles – sometimes more than we need to hear His quick response.[tweetthis]We need Abba’s bubbles, sometimes more than we need to hear His quick response. [/tweetthis]
He is alive.
He is working.
Yes friends, there is movement on the other end of our questioning.
Have you ever been comforted by His bubbles? Waiting on Gods answer can be one of the hardest acts of faith, yet when His plan is revealed, only He can take credit. Keep waiting and find His presence in His bubbles. Just wait and see…
UPCOMING CHANGES –
Due to my coursework and priority given to my book project, my blog posting may slow to 1-2 posts per week through April. You will see my bubbles at work here and there over the next 16 weeks. I am working. God is working. Don’t worry, I will keep you updated! Thank you so much for your continued encouragement. I can’t begin to express how much your words mean to me and our family as we begin a new journey walking out in faith! I’m glad you are here with us!
Until next time – rest in His
