I love Peter's experience of walking on the roaring sea with Jesus. But the thing is, Peter's story is often misunderstood. Do you have a step you need to take?
Listen to this message I gave at a women's retreat to gain the fresh perspective you need to see Jesus in a new way! My FREE gift to you!

WORD FOR THE WEEK: PLAY
Pushing “play” is the motivation I need to get out of my warm, comfy bed in the middle of summer break…at 5am.
Every. Single. Morning. (except Saturdays…gotta get a break sometime!).
I know what you are thinking. Trust me, I believe I am crazy most days too (just ask my kids!). But keep reading and I will share 2 apps that I’ve come to rely on more than coffee.
I run a little over 6 miles each morning – all by myself (a treat for this momma!). I have these special Trekz Headphones that allow me to hear music and apps on my phone without wearing my hearing-aids (thus eliminating the sweat damage factor and all the street background noise). As my feet hit the warm Florida summer pavement, I am able to hear words that help my mind and my heart refocus.
Words that mean something deep in my soul.
Words that were given to me at a time when I needed them the most.
Words that are all Truth.
Words my heart longs to hear over and over again.
BACKGROUND: You see, a few years ago, I began using my Evernote app to record personalized verses of scripture that God would give to me. Sometimes it would be right in the middle of a crowded group Bible study and I would quickly jot down the reference to personalize it later. Other times it would come in the middle of a personal quiet time with God. Some scripture passages were met with tears while others made me smile. Each verse that I recorded, I would tag and add a description indicating why this passage was so important to me at that specific time.
Up until a few months ago, I would find quiet time once a week to read through all of the verses that I had collected and personalized. When I felt like I was going to hit bottom (we all have those moments right?) I would use the search function in my Evernote app to find verses I had entered and tagged that applied to how I was feeling. It was amazing to have this resource on my phone whenever I needed it.
But as my vision began to change, it became harder to read through all of the verses in just one sitting. That’s when I downloaded the Voice Dream app on my iphone. This app connects directly with my Evernote app and all of my personalized verses and notes. Each time I update the verse list in my Evernote app, my Voice Dream app updates accordingly.
So… (Drum roll please!)
As I begin my workout, I press that “play” button in my Voice Dream app and I hear personalized verses like:
Bethany, I hold you by your right hand— I, the LORD your God. And I say to you, ‘Don’t be afraid. I am here to help you. (Isaiah 41:13 NLT). (May 8, 2015 during the editing process and group forming for my book…was feeling so discouraged but God is holding me by my RIGHT hand…using my weakness as His strength. Wow.)
Bethany, I Am compassionate and merciful, slow to get angry and filled with unfailing love. I will not constantly accuse you, nor remain angry forever. I do not punish you for all your sins; I do not deal harshly with you Bethany, as you deserve. For My unfailing love toward those who fear Me is as great as the height of the heavens above the earth. I have removed your sins as far from us as the east is from the west. Bethany, I AM like a father to you – My child, tender and compassionate to those who fear Me. For I know how weak you are; I remember you are only dust. Bethany, your days on earth are like grass; like wildflowers, you bloom and die. The wind blows, and you are gone— as though you had never been here. But My love remains forever with those who fear Me. Bethany, My salvation extends to the children’s children of those who are faithful to My covenant, of those who obey My commandments! (Psalms 103:8-18 NLT)(Given to me on August 12, 2014… a late, rough night)
There are hundreds more now, but I think you get the idea. Many have been featured here on my blog (my gift to you!).
You can just imagine how listening to these Truths just jump starts my day.
Verse after verse.
Circumstance after circumstance.
Truth after Truth.
Always being updated.
And I get to listen to these words as I run into the sunrise. I feel Him holding me close. Listening to His Truth, I know that I am safe, wanted, loved and never alone. It’s Truths I need on an ongoing, daily basis.
Yes, I’ve even added journal entries into my Voice Dream app as well as blog posts and sermons. Even listening to words that came from my fingers on this very keyboard continue to bring me closer to God.
I’ve been asked to start putting together tutorials of all my geeky tech finds! Would you be interested in a tutorial on how to use these apps for your quiet time or for your writing? Let me know in the comments below!
