I love Peter's experience of walking on the roaring sea with Jesus. But the thing is, Peter's story is often misunderstood. Do you have a step you need to take?
Listen to this message I gave at a women's retreat to gain the fresh perspective you need to see Jesus in a new way! My FREE gift to you!
We finally landed in Kiev, Ukraine. Ahead of us was a traditional Ukrainian meal at McDonald’s and a 4-hour road trip to Poltava. (Just so you know, McDonald’s tastes the same no matter where in the world you are!)
About halfway down the road to Poltava, our van turned off the road to a rest stop. I was excited as my McDonalds sweet tea had me begging for relief.
We eagerly filed out of the vehicle and we began searching.
Up a few wooden steps sat a window.
Inside the window sat a sweet elderly woman.
Around the corner were the restrooms!
Before I had the chance to run off into victory, our leader pulled me aside and gave me some money. “You will need this,” he said. Taking the money, I made my way up to the lady in the window. She took the money from my open hand and pointed me to my destination.
Yes, friends, I paid cold hard cash to use a restroom at a common rest area!
But wait, it gets better…
As I ventured around the corner, my hand cupped over my mouth when all of the stalls had one of these…
Thinking I accidentally went into the wrong restroom, I checked the sign. There stood the famous silhouette of a dress. Oh yes, this was indeed the women’s restroom, unfortunately. Oh, sweet Dorothy, we are so not in Kansas anymore!
My other teammates decided they were going to hold it. Me on the other hand – let’s just say I didn’t have that luxury.
Conclusion – I learned that I was much more flexible than I thought!
As I met the rest of the team, we laughed and grabbed ice-cream to enjoy before beginning the final half of our voyage to Poltava where we would be staying for the remainder of the trip.
Life does this too. We think we know right where we are headed and then suddenly, we are thrown a curveball.
We feel confused, unsure and uncoordinated.
But God has already equipped us perfectly for all of life’s unknowns.
Bethany, now you see things imperfectly, like puzzling reflections in a mirror, but then you will see everything with perfect clarity. All that you know now is partial and incomplete, but then you will know everything completely, just as I now know you completely. (1 Corinthians 13:12 NLT)
Bethany, I always lead you in triumph in Christ, and through you diffuse the fragrance of My knowledge in every place. For you are to Me the fragrance of Christ among those who are being saved and among those who are perishing. (I Corinthians 2:14-15 NKJV)
Perhaps today you are wondering where on earth God has you planted. When you look around, it’s not at all where you thought you would be. Can I offer just a bit of encouragement being that I have been where you are today?
Expect the unexpected with open arms knowing that God knows exactly what He is doing.
(Just be ready to practice your flexibility!).
